Keno is a game of chance with a rich and acclaimed history. The game that we know and love has experienced incredible alterations since its original appearance. Gaming historians have traced its background as far back as 200 B.C. to a Chinese form of diversion called ‘The Game of the White Dove.’ It’s a well-documented certainty that a type of keno was played in a bingo-like configuration on the eastern seaboard right about the time of the humongous Chinese immigration at the time of the gold rush.
In its latest form, keno is a bit like bingo in that both games are based upon numbers. An individual keno card is printed with eighty numbers and the player will choose as many as s/he would like. This is accomplished by marking the numbers using a pen. After the player has picked out the numbers, he/she must bring the card back to the clerk at the keno stand. The cashier will then issue a slip after marking down the player’s numbers. It’s up to the gambler to trade in any winning keno card before the next round starts, so stragglers must stay alert.
